June 2008: Healthways was awarded the overall Silver Award at the ASQ International Team Excellence competition during the World Conference on Quality and Improvement in Houston, TX. The prestigious International Team Excellence Award event is the only internationally recognized team process of its kind in the US, and since 1985 has drawn competition from more than 800 teams from around the world, including the US, Canada, China, and Japan.
The four-member Healthways team was recognized for it project utilizing specific Lean/Six Sigma tools and methodologies to improve clinician productivity and overall member contact levels in a healthcare telephonic delivery model. This resulted in $3.3 million in cost avoidance, improved utilization, and clinical outcomes.
